Reviews for Star Wars Zero Company, the highly anticipated Star Wars strategy game, are now live, and it is being met with surprisingly solid praise from all corners, with many critics hailing its gritty, mature story and strong gameplay mechanics.

Here is a taste of what other outlets have to say about it:

IGN (9/10): "Star Wars Zero Company is an excellent tactical game that does a fantastic job of slathering on the same cinematic look and feel we saw in Respawn's Star Wars Jedi games, incorporating strong characters and a storyline that's refreshingly centered on non-Force users and a non-traditional villain. There's more of an emphasis on cooperation and flexibility, and a tighter focus on smaller maps that encourage a radically different and more aggressive playstyle. It might not have the legendary level of replayability that's kept XCOM 2 in my rotation for a decade, but its lengthy story campaign is more than worth at least a couple of playthroughs before you can see everything and get the hang of its nuanced combat and synergies."

Dualshockers (9/10): "After an eternity of modding XCOM into Star Wars, we finally have the tactics game from a galaxy far, far away that we deserve. Star Wars: Zero Company is an excellent addition to the saga that isn't scared of taking risks, and joins Andor and Rogue One in the pantheon of tales about high-risk covert operations, living up to the reputation of its peers. Occasional balancing and interface issues only keep a great game from being perfect, but when the blasters start singing, it all comes together."

PC Gamer (90/100): Minor issues aside, Star Wars Zero Company is one of the best games of 2026 and a new all-timer Star Wars videogame. While I don't see it having the modding/sandbox "forever game" gravity of XCOM 2, it is excellent, substantial, and highly replayable. I've found it to be a mic drop of a debut from Bit Reactor, a sense that's only compounded by its crowd-pleasingly anachronistic price tag of $50.

Game Rant (9/10): Zero Company's story, while still great overall, is a little anticlimactic, and its stellar presentation is occasionally hampered by minor visual glitches or awkward animations, but I can't bring myself to punish the game too harshly for such shortcomings. If you accept it for what it is, as a compelling, entertaining, and oftentimes very tender blockbuster story, rather than wishing for the most complex turn-based tactics game of the decade, I can almost guarantee that you'll fall in love with Star Wars Zero Company

The Gamer (4.5/5): Everything I adore about the game can be summed up in that moment that I cannot spoil, so I will just say this: Zero Company is the game we need right now. It shows societal outcasts living under a government that doesn’t want them to exist. It shows people who can survive under bigotry choosing to stand by their friends who can’t. It shows solidarity during a time when that has never been more important.

It seems that the consensus is that Star Wars Zero Company is a hit, successfully combining well-thought-out combat with a more real and down-to-earth (or one of the various planets across the galaxy) story that many long-time Star Wars fans have been wanting.
