There has been a constant worry about big corporations worming their way into your brain through cybernetic chips for a while now (thanks, Cyberpunk 2077), and there has always been the question of what we could do to combat it.
Well, it seems Horns of Deliverance might have the answer, even if it could still lead to your demise.
Horns of Deliverance puts you in the shoes of a man who has a brain chip that is invading his brain (sound familiar?) and who has found an interesting solution to the problem: drugs. But be wary; this can lead to some less-than-ideal side effects. These substances range from a simple cigarette and a beer or two, all the way up to mushrooms and some less natural items to keep the beast at bay.
Make your way through corridors filled with enemies who want nothing more than to have you dead as you utilise a plethora of hallucinogens and psychoactive substances to keep your pesky little brain chip in line.
Because each level you go along is procedurally generated, nothing will be the same, ever, and each time around you will be barreling down familiar yet completely different corridors (navigation not helped at all by the hallucinations) as you slay your way to the end, so be ready to adapt on the fly.
To help you through these ominous corridors, you can also upgrade your equipment to increase your chances of survival between levels, which probably proves pretty useful when going up against hordes of enemies in tight spaces.
However, the chip isn't all bad, as it gives you important notifications, like what unauthorised weapons you have in your possession and their ammo, or what performance-enhancing drugs you are carrying around, along with how much time you have left until you are "eliminated" by the previously mentioned chip. So just standard stuff, really.
If a deadly run-and-gun hallucinogen fest sounds like a good trip, head over to Steam now and get Horns of Deliverance on a 10% sale for £8.72, or, if you are reading this later, £9.69.
