ScourgeBringer and NeuroVoider studio Flying Oak Games has released a demo for its forthcoming action title, Knuckle Paradise.
Described as a "pixel-powered, combo-packed character action game", Knuckle Paradise places you in the gym kit of retired boxer Jane, who, alongside her warrior chicken pal Cocotte, must fight her way out of an abandoned amusement park.
The game is "filled with drama and absurd situations in this non-stop single-player beat’em up inspired by classic nineties action comedies," and the developer cites genre classics such as Devil May Cry and Bayonetta as inspirations.
The demo certainly seems to back up this claim; the combat in Knuckle Paradise is refreshingly crunchy, with combo attacks sending enemies skyward with their speed and intensity.
You can unlock new skills for Cocotte via hidden martial arts magazines, while protein bars increase Jane's maximum health. It sounds like the game mixes gameplay styles: one level has you testing your stealth skills as you break into a nightclub undetected, while elsewhere you get involved in a car chase.
The demo is available now, but there's no solid release date for the game as yet.
