Far Far West Comes Out Swinging with Its Icy-Hot Frostburn Update

Far Far West continues to be one of the best multiplayer games released this year, and it's not even done! A hugely compelling co-op shooter where you and your posse of cartoon robot cowpokes ride out onto the irradiated, extremely haunted wastes in search of loot, fame, and things to shoot. Today, developers Evil Raptor rolled out the long-awaited and content-dense Frostburn update.

As you might have guessed from the title, fire and ice are the focus of this update, but more than that, the game now has melee weapons. You'll have to trade in one of your ranged weapon slots for an up-close implement of destruction, but they all have their perks. There's brass knuckles, a whip, and, of course, the deadliest close-combat weapon of all: A banjo. Okay, maybe not the deadliest - it's a healing tool, but it also has a big, meaty, heavy swing too, landing with a satisfying BWONG, as any banjo should.

Beyond that, there are lighthouses added to the map that, if scaled and you complete the minigame at the top, will reveal the map and its unique locations. Uranium has been added as a new collectible resource, used to buy stuff mid-mission instead of gold. And because you're robots, there's no harm in carrying a ton of it. There are new upgrades exclusive to melee weapons, and a TON of new jokers to make your build extra spicy. Item Fragments have also been heavily reworked.

There's now Frost magic to play around with, too. Five different spells (ranging from combat to fun utility stuff, like building ice bridges) and freezing enemies buff your own shields. There's new missions in the Jungle map, and a whole new map - set in a volcano - with a new quest-giver (as seen up top) who'll help you if you help him end the world.
