Vampire Survivors Legacy of The Bloodmoon Key Art

Vampire Survivors, the game that defined an entire genre of time-sponge continues to gorge itself on our waking hours and hard-earned moneys. Only one money today, though, but in aggregate across a hojillion players, that's still a lot of moneys. Legacy of the Bloodmoon is the latest paid expansion for Poncle's hugely popular build-crafting, slot-reel-rolling, monster-splattering gothic comedy action roguelike, and it's out right now and very cheap.

The new expansion is, as typical for Vampire Survivors, a little cagey about just how much it's adding to the game, leaving some surprises for players to uncover. There are at least ten new playable characters, a minimum of 16 new weapons, and actually 8 new pieces of music, exactly. Also, there's one new stage, but it's one of those huge explorable ones with quests and secrets to uncover.

While not nearly as huge as the sprawling Ode to Castlevania DLC from 2024 (which is effectively a whole game unto itself, with an amazing finale for those who persevere through it all), this DLC is also a third of the price, so it balances out. What you are getting for your One Money is a bundle of bad guys to play as. Blood-mages, necromancers, dark priests and a cosmic monarch, just to top things off. This expansion also adds, for the first time in Vampire Survivors, a FireBall spell, joining FireFall, FireWall and the new fusion spell FireStall.

Vampire Survivors does not take anything seriously, you might have noticed. The game is like 70% bad puns by weight, and another 30% obscure Italian wordplay after that too. But wait: There's MORE! Because Poncle never does things by halves, 2022's Legacy of the Moonspell DLC also updated with another four characters, four weapons, and some other goodies. There are many words I could use to describe Poncle, but 'stingy' isn't one of them.

Legacy of the Bloodmoon is out now for Vampire Survivors, and costs a mere £0.95/£0.99, going even cheaper if you pick it up in a bundle with the game's existing DLC. If only this were how microtransactions worked in other games.
