Final Fantasy Resonance, a remake of the mobile phone title Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, has understandably attracted plenty of attention since it was first announced, and with its launch swiftly approaching in October of this year, the anticipation has only been growing.
Thankfully, for all of the people eagerly waiting for the full launch, there is a free demo that just went up on Steam that lets you experience a little hit of 2D Final Fantasy goodness before the full release.
For some background, Final Fantasy Resonance is a reimagining of 2016's Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. This adaptation gives players the chance to play the aforementioned game, but with a fresh coat of graphical paint lathered on top.
It retains its classic roots, like the charming pixel graphics and strategic turn-based combat, while also improving them with Square's signature "HD-2D" graphical upgrade; this is the first Final Fantasy to benefit from it. It also includes dynamic camera angles and pixelized 3D models.
The game boasts completely new features, such as the 'visions' system. This allows you to call upon legends of the Final Fantasy franchise to aid you in battle "using unique skills and abilities".
With the demo out now, you can experience all of the first chapter (with some level restrictions in place) as it will appear in the full game, and the save data from the demo will also carry over, which is great for anyone looking to dive right into the game with some experience on release.
If this all sounds like a journey you would like to embark on, head over to Steam and download the demo. The full game launches on the 22nd of October, with the base price being £39.99. If you want to go all in, the digital deluxe edition is £49.99, which includes the Magitek and Grimoire deluxe pack.

This was easily the highlight of the showcase. Always love a demo with save game transfer and Square have been great at putting these out over the past few years. Normally hasn’t changed my mind on anything since I’m a big JRPG fan but nice to get started early. I got 29 hours out of the Trails SC demo the other week so wonder how long this one is…
