Even amidst the massive success of Star Wars Zero Company, it seems that studio Bit Reactor has fallen victim to an all-too-common problem in the gaming industry in recent times, with the majority of its staff being furloughed weeks ago, long before the game's release.

Star Wars Zero Company was released to critical acclaim, with outlets praising its gritty, realistic world and deep, well-developed gameplay elements, with many claiming it breathed fresh air into the franchise.

Despite this success, according to Game File, almost 80% of Bit Reactor's staff were furloughed in the weeks leading up to launch day, with a Bit Reactor representative confirming this and stressing that “this decision was Bit Reactor’s alone”.

A former Bit Reactor employee, Zachariah Scott, also has some insight into the situation, believing that the studio was attempting to cover up the mass furloughs, stating it was “sick” to parade “10/10 posts about Star Wars Zero Company being a huge success” while “concealing the fact that the team was furloughed weeks ago”.

This entire situation further presents a worrying image for the future of Bit Reactor and the gaming industry as a whole, where we are seeing a best-selling and highly rated game across all major platforms have its dedicated team treated in such a horrible way, sadly showing that no matter the quality or success of a project, money takes priority in the modern gaming space.
