This Faceplate Turns Your Steam Machine Into A Sony PVM 1

Serious retro gamers will tell you that the only way to experience classic games is to purchase a PVM or BVM, and while this can be an insanely expensive option that is out of the question for many people, I can concur that they deliver a pretty incredible picture.

That's why this Steam Machine faceplate has me reaching for my credit card, as it turns your boxy gaming system into a Sony-made PVM – complete with a 1080p display and stereo speakers.

The panel clips magnetically onto the front of your Steam Machine, just like the default 'blank' panel, so no installation is required. It plugs into the Steam Machine's HDMI port and USB-C power ports, turning your system into a self-contained portable gaming solution (you'll still need a plug socket nearby, of course).

Handmade in France, each faceplate is individually produced and assembled by hand, and the kit also includes a premium vinyl skin to install on the main body of the Steam Machine, which completes the transformation into a faux-PVM.

The cost? Well, it was never going to come cheap, and at £200, this is a serious upgrade for a machine that already costs close to £1,000. However, that price is clearly reasonable enough for some people, as the initial allocation has sold out. Units are expected to arrive with customers in December.
