Where the Seeds Fall is a short action-adventure game that really came out of the blue for me. Published by Cygames (yeah, that Cygames) and developed by CygamesEdge, it definitely feels like a turn off the beaten track for the praised publisher, famous for the gacha game Umamusume: Pretty Derby and other titles, most of which are entirely unlike this one.

However, this surprise is a welcome one indeed, as Where the Seeds Fall has an amazing art style and atmosphere that reminds me a little of Sky: Children of the Light. It delivers a hopeful message throughout the game's roughly 3-hour story, set in a world infected with corruption where humans have resorted to living on branches high above the surface, fearing anything from below.

The surviving humans have, in fear of the corruption and the world below, branded mysterious creatures as "fell children", saying they are 'bad omens' and should be avoided at all costs – but one lone soldier refuses to follow these orders and takes in a fell child who bears an eerie resemblance to his late daughter, embarking on a mission to return it to the surface.

The gameplay of Where the Seeds Fall is simple: descend the tree through its many (often crumbling) branches, leaves, and ledges while taking in the gorgeous world around (and mostly below) you. As you make your way bit by bit toward your uncertain fate below, you uncover secrets about what the Fell Child really is, and figure out what is really going on beneath the branches.

It doesn't end at reaching the surface, however; if you want to, you can play through more challenging maps that test the skills acquired throughout your time on the tree's branches, or even push yourself to your limits and tackle the time trial mode.

Where the Seeds Fall is a calming game that respects your time and delivers a story in a time frame that anyone can enjoy over the course of a few days or even in a single sitting, so if you're looking for something to relax and wind down too, then I recommend you go and check it out.
