Hooded Horse continues to run wild across all corners of strategy gaming. Along with the beginning of Tacticon 2026 (a Steam event they're hosting in collaboration with indie publisher Firesquid), they've got an intriguing new game to announce today. Rogue Carrier is a fusion of colony builder, roguelite, and sci-fi naval combat adventure developed by indie outfit Wild Fields, formerly of the Overcooked-like Speed Crew.

Wild Fields are definitely swinging harder than their previous game. Rogue Carrier looks to be a complex mix of supply-chain building strategy game, exploration, and combat. Navigating between islands, sending out probes and vehicles to tap them for resources, all while researching and building facilities on the all-too-limited deck space of your big red customizable carrier ship.

Set on a sentient (and cranky - shades of Alpha Centauri) planet, Rogue Carrier puts players in charge of an almost-certainly-doomed, stranded naval mission. The environment and giant sea-monsters grow increasingly aggressive the longer you float around on its surface on your mobile city-ship. At least you're not entirely without help, as you can trade resources and tech with other spacefaring species.

One of the most interesting things shown in the debut trailer is a multitude of scenarios, accessible via a fragmented timeline map, letting you begin your next adventure in different eras for the planet, with civilization in different states of supremacy or collapse. Wild Fields claims the game has fifty possible scenario variants and five possible endings to work towards, with at least one of them presumably ending in your ship not sinking.

There's no release date yet for Rogue Carrier, but you can wishlist it now on Steam and get a first peek at its hostile seas in the debut trailer below.
