Let's not lose sight of the fact that Epic is not just a client of Valve's by virtue of being a game publisher. They're also a competitor by virtue of having their own storefront. He's talking badly about a competitor. Yawn, next.
Tiny Flock looks really cool. Like a VR Lemmings. Dual Protocol looks interesting. I have Talos Principle 2 on Switch, but this is a reason to pick it up on Steam, too. Okko the Exiled looks like my style of game, too. Also, that's cool that Qubyte has its own game rather than IP it purchased in a rummage sale.
@phlog The thumbnails for that and for Escape Simulator 2 are def GenAI. It's probably suboptimal to use one as the article image with so many alternate choices.
It's valid to contrast extremes to illustrate a point, but I think Vampire Survivors was a crazy low price point so that the game could get buyers and then take off. Then DLC has to be priced proportionally, so Poncle is kinda stuck in the inexpensive lane for a bit. It's similar to people using Silksong as their standard for what $20 should buy in complaining about Mario Kart World. Cosmetics seem silly to charge much for, but I guess that avoids a pay-to-win criticism of locking an OP item behind a paywall.
There have got to be solutions to this other than AI. The fragmentation of pedigree in the industry probably doesn't help, such as Witcher 3 fans needing to choose to support either Witcher 4 or Blood of Dawnwalker or double their expenses. There are just too many quality games to support it seems. And with universities now adding game design as majors, we should expect even more of this, alas.
@damo It seems in poor taste to use an image that includes an emulated game in an article not explicitly about that. It lends credence to my notion that Time Extension was created mainly to be able to talk more openly about Nintendo emulation seeing as the other site had Nintendo in the title.

Re: Welcome to Steam Hype!
I was a Nintendo-only guy, but once the Steam Deck was announced, I started making a Steam wishlist. This development is very exciting!
