With the success ARC Raiders has seen since its release, I was not at all surprised at the revelation that it will be getting a TV adaptation – but what I was surprised to see is The Finals receiving one, too.

Backrooms Co-producer The North Road Company’s Chernin Entertainment division recently announced that it had gained the rights to adapt both The Finals and ARC Raiders into film and TV (thanks, Polygon), with Embark CEO Patrick Söderlund stating that this is "the next big step in growing ARC Raiders and The Finals into deeply integrated transmedia experiences that reward the passion of our global player community."

Chernin Entertainment's David Ready, president of film, adds that "ARC Raiders and The Finals are exactly the kind of opportunities we’ve been building towards at Chernin Entertainment. Nexon and Embark have created visually stunning, atmospheric worlds that contain countless stories to tell. We’re honoured they’ve trusted us to unite our film and television teams to tell those stories.”

While in an interview with Polygon, Embark Studios Executive Producer claimed these adaptations were still in the "early phase", I can't help but be optimistic about these adaptations, as Chernin has an amazing track record, being involved with Planet of the Apes, Backrooms, and even Netflix's Mega Man adaptation, meaning they already have experience with adapting video games, which is a great start.

As a huge fan of both games (The Finals being my favourite FPS of all time, no question), I was extremely happy to hear this news, especially with each game getting its biggest update yet; the future seems very bright for both.
